CASE WORKER TEAM LEADER


SCOPE OF THE VACANCY

The Case Worker Team Leader acts as the focal point of a specific geographical area (LGA), and within that area, monitors the case management daily activities and the efficiency and effectiveness of the team of Case Workers and Community Support Workers.

He/She is accountable for the monitoring of the cases and will propose possible change in the team configuration depending on the actual case load in the designated geographical location.


MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Officer, he/she:

Supervises, supports and leads the Case management team during the day by day activities in the assigned geographical area (Case workers and Community support workers);

Monitors the day by day activities, for example ensuring all registered children’s cases are properly managed, according to the guidelines, the available referral pathway and service mapping;

Leads trainings for community leaders, teachers, government social workers and case workers on Case Management and Child Protection in Emergencies under request of the Protection Officer;

Supports the Child Protection Officer and Data-entry clerk in the data-entry activities for the cases of the geographical area assigned (ex. interpreting the forms and explaining the cases);

Communicates regularly with the Child Protection Officer for updates on achievements and challenges;

Directly communicates effectively with other caseworkers as part of conducting individual case management;

Collects the reports from the assigned geographical area and supervises the overall integrity and uniformity of methods among the different areas of works and teams;

Supports the Protection Officer in raising gaps and recommendations both regarding external issues and possible ones with the collaborators;

Actively contributes to the case management activities filling the forms, assessing the needs, dealing with the beneficiaries like all the other Case Workers do;

Actively contributes in training the partners (social workers of the institutional stakeholders);

Ensures the daily activities’ monitoring focusing on the quality of the work, security, interpretation and reporting of possible changes of the social context.

Ensures that all documentation for Case management of Unaccompanied and Separated Children is conducted and filed according to required standards;

Collects and documents success stories for reports;

Adopts standard operating procedure for the Child Protection and case management system and data management protocols;

Upholds COOPI’s mission and Charter of Values;

Follows and enforces all COOPI codes of conduct and policies (globally and in-country);

Performs any other necessary action related to the position to achieve the objectives of the project and of COOPI in Nigeria if requested by the Protection Officer;

Provide individual and family counselling services to beneficiaries as necessary

Carry out awareness sessions on child rights in the IDPs camps, primary schools, child friendly spaces and youth clubs;

Perform any other action related with the position needed to achieve the objectives of the projects and of COOPI Nigeria if requested by his/her supervisor.

Profile of the Candidate (Education, Training, Competences, Skills)


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor Degree in Social Service, Social Sciences, Humanity or other relevant field

Prior experience (at least 2 years) working in complex emergency context as Case worker

Fluency in English

Knowledge and significant experience in training and supervision processes

Good communicator, strong listening capacity, open minded, proactive and creative

Respectful and inclusive of individual and cultural differences

Good analysis and problem-solving capability, and effective reporting writing skills

Excellent Microsoft Office applications skills (Excel, Word, Power point, Emails, Skype, Web researchers)

Knowledge of and adherence to COOPI Code of Conduct, understands other international development guidelines

Knowledge of the local language (Hausa and Kanuri)


Preferred:

Good knowledge of the intervention area/s and local context


PROJECT MANAGER


COOPI IN NIGERIA

COOPI started its operations in North-East Nigeria in July 2014 to carry out a rapid evaluation of the most relevant constraints suffered by the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) displaced by the food crisis and the Boko Haram insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin.

The COOPI Nigeria Field Office is located in Potiskum, Yobe State, in order to cover five LGAs in Yobe State and to provide direct assistance to the IDPs and their hosting communities, through a multi-sectorial programme covering Food Security, Nutrition and Child Protection interventions.

COOPI’s capacity to respond to the humanitarian situation in the country is confirmed by its experience in providing humanitarian aid in more than 24 other Countries around the World, in over 50 years of operations.


SCOPE OF THE VACANCY


He/she is responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the FAO_ECHO funded agricultural based project I Yobe. He/she will execute, in technical, economic/financial terms, and in terms of resources management on field, in compliance with COOPI and the donor’s procedures. He/she ensures the expected results attainment in budget management.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Activity planning and management: In cooperation with the project staff, he/she plans and monitors the activities, in compliance with the contract signed with the donor and with COOPI procedures.


Administrative and financial management:

In collaboration with the Project Administrator/Administrative Coordinator he/she plans all expenditures for the project.

He/she regularly monitors all planned made expenditures.

In cooperation with the Project Administrator and in coordination with the Administrative Coordinator he/she prepares the Purchases Plan.

He/she ensures the organization and donor’s procedures are respected when purchasing goods and services.


Reporting:

In coordination with the supervisor and with the Administrative Coordinator, he/she ensures the preparation, in compliance with the deadlines, of all financial and narrative reports – interim and final – expected by the project.

He/she is responsible for the preparation of all formal communication and contract modifications requests (ex. budget modification) of the projects he manages.

Staff Management:


In compliance with the country’s rules/laws and with the COOPI’s regulation in the country, he/she selects the local staff to be employed in projects.

By making use of the organization’s tools he/she evaluates the local staff employed for projects and he/she participates to the evaluation of his/her own project, upon request by his/her direct supervisor.

He/she coordinates and supervises the work done by all the project staff, in compliance with the organization’s security procedures. He/she is responsible for the initial and continuous training of the project staff under his/her responsibility.

Goods Management:


He/she will be responsible for the correct management of all goods purchased for the project, both directly and purchased by other offices/field offices. For all goods purchased by the project he/she updates the inventory, in cooperation with the Administrative Coordinator.

Institutional relations:


In relation to the project, he/she communicates with the donors’ officers, local authorities which are key in the aspects related to the project, the project’s partners and beneficiaries, in compliance with the organization’s guidelines.

New Projects Proposal Writing:


Upon request by his/her direct supervisor, and cooperating with the project staff, he/she elaborates, writes and prepares all necessary documents to present new projects, in accordance with the organization’s processes and procedures.


PROFILE

Advanced degree in Food Security, livelihood or related field or equivalent work.

Minimum 3 years’ experience in the humanitarian field in similar roles.

Demonstrated experience in agricultural input distribution, training and vegetable production. .

Experience of working within an insecure environment with responsibility for security planning, monitoring and management.

Experience working on FAO funded projects (Agricultural input distribution & Cash Based Transfers)

Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills;

Strong supervisory abilities, demonstrated capacity of teamwork and coordination with the relevant actors

Very good inter-personal and writing communication skills;

Ability to organize work efficiently and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under time constraints;

Proficiency in written and spoken English;

Computer literacy, with high proficiency in the use of standard office software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
