If you are anything like me, you will have probably looked for examples of how to write a good Resume or CV on the internet, do you agree they all look very similar?
So if the countless uploaded video tutorials and blogs all look the same … how are you going to get noticed with your job application?
When you apply for a job, you are actually applying for the interview are not you? And I am sure you have thought about how many other applications the recruiter receives; we both know it can be 100"s.
Many of those applicators might not have your credentials; you really might be the best fit, however you simply do not get noticed.
99% of job applicants believe their application should be professional with a clear lay out. I totally agree with you; but then what do you do? Some people include a professional action, a profile or an objective; followed by work history, achievements and education.
Is not this just the same as anyone else?
Usually the people who get invited to an interview are selected from the first 20 applications received. The recruiter may have already decided they want to only interview 4 people due to issues with time. So the recruiter starts with the first application and highlights several of them; that might be 6 or 7 applications from the first 20 or 30 they have read. From the 6 or 7 they invite 4.
It is likely the 4 people are interviewed the following week; by now the recruiter could have received 60 applications, but it is too late.
The moral of this article is not just about timing, that is one element you should take from this learning "get in early", but the major learning is to how to make your application visible among all the others.
When you write a CV or a Resume for a job application you do not want to be a zebra; you need to stand out but in a professional way that is accepted by the recruiter.
The questions for you to ask yourself are.
1) How do I stand out?
2) How do I make my Resume or CV grab attention
3) Do I really want to continue with "hope"?
And this is the major issue, especially as a sales person.
Do you keep promoting yourself in the same way, or do you find a way to change?
Why Do All Resumes and CV Examples Appear to Look the Same?
