We are recruiting to fill the positions of:


Job Title: Administrative/HR Assistant
Location: 
Maiduguri, Borno
Scope of Work



  • Assists in leading the human resources management and administration roles in the Maiduguri field office.


Responsibilities
Recruitment, orientation and integration:



  • Job advertising.

  • Receiving candidates

  • Pre-screening and shortlist candidates

  • Organize candidates written tests and interviews

  • Publish recruitment results

  • Prepare hiring documents.

  • Preparing and support onboarding/transition process for the new hires staff or transferred staff


Assist the field office ADM/HR Lead in performance management and staff development:



  • Receive and file staff performance reviews

  • Monitor deadlines and needed reminders

  • Compile staff development needs

  • Prospect potential training providers.

  • Ensures that training completion reports are submitted.

  • Established and keep up to date the list of employees who received training paid by IRC


Assure staff filing and administration:



  • Assure staff timesheets submission and filing

  • Track and monitor staff leaves, sick leaves and absences

  • Assure the maintenance and updating of individual files

  • Assure that all required administrative formalities are respected (staff contract registration, social security registration, medical insurance registration, etc.)

  • Debrief exiting employees and complete end-of-assignment procedures.


Assist in Administration Management:



  • Track and monitor IRC office and guesthouse administration and maintenance.

  • Manage rental agreements for offices and housing.

  • Monitor renewal and termination of contracts and payments with suppliers, service providers, and lessors and assure that all are done on time.

  • Assure that all facilities are well functioning, including housekeeping, office supplies, electricity, maintenance and repair, internet and other communications functions in the field office.

  • Assure proper use and functionality of office equipment.

  • Supervise cleaners and cooks.

  • Maintain proper records of all correspondence.

  • Track and monitor subscriptions and monthly telephone and Internet communications, and assure that all are paid on time.

  • Assist in processing travel documents (visa, ticket, etc.)


Monitoring and Reporting:



  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports recruitment

  • Prepare and submit monthly report HR

  • Prepare and submit monthly staff leave accrual

  • Prepare and submit quarterly the updated “severance pay”

  • Prepare and submit monthly rental agreements tracking sheet

  • Prepare and submit monthly renewal and termination of contracts and payments with suppliers, service providers, lessors tracking sheet.

  • Other relevant duties as assigned (of a similar nature or related and in the interest of the organization)


Requirements
Education:



  • University degree in a relevant field.

  • Human resources or administrative qualifications desirable


Experience:



  • 1 year of relevant professional experience in administration / human resources

  • Previous experience working with an international NGO in a cross-cultural setting, preferably in the HR sector

  • Previous team experience and knowledge of team dynamics desirable


Skills:



  • Good inter-personal and conflict resolution skills, able to work under pressure and manage personal stress

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, team-player but also able to work independently

  • Able to coach and support others

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Compassionate, self-motivated, enthusiastic, energetic

Job Title: Women Protection and Empowerment Case Worker
Location: 
Yobe
Scope of Work



  • The Case Worker will provide psychosocial support, basic case management support to survivors of gender-based violence through individual counselling follow up support, referrals and dissemination of information on available GBV services to encourage access to services.

  • She/he will in collaboration with the Response Officer oversee provision of psychosocial /group support, skills building, information sessions and other recreational activities that promotes social support networks and cohesion with women and girls at the women and girls centres/safe spaces


Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Case Worker include but are not limited to the following:


GBV Case Management:



  • Provide direct support and care for adult and child survivors of gender-based violence, including counseling and basic case management. Case management services will include:

  • Assessment of needs of clients

  • Developing an action plan with clients

  • Implementing the plan with clients

  • Provide physical accompaniment to GBV survivors if requested to access medical and other services according to their wishes, choices and decisions

  • Conduct direct and regular follow up of GBV survivors through home visits and based on survivors wishes

  • And consent.

  • Case closure (if and when appropriate)

  • Conduct direct follow up of GBV survivors through home visits and regular follow up visits based on survivors’ wishes and consent.

  • Ensure proper documentation of reported GBV incidences through utilization of GBVIMS case intake, action, follow up and other case management forms appropriately.

  • Provide physical accompaniment to survivors of GBV to access other services in accordance with their wishes, choices and decisions

  • Follow GBV guiding principles of respect, confidentiality, and safety/security and non- discrimination while providing services to women and girls.

  • Monitor how the GBV referral pathway is working through making direct follow ups with other organizations that are providing services to survivors.


Psychosocial/Group Support/Safe Spaces:



  • Conduct and help plan and organize psychosocial/ group support activities with women and adolescent girls to meet the emotional needs of survivors, build support networks among women/girls, and promote social integration of survivors and other vulnerable women.

  • Work with women and girls in the community to identify their needs, interests and priorities, and where possible, adapt activities according to these to ensure activities offered are culturally appropriate and meet the needs of women and girls.


Outreach and Community Mobilization:



  • In collaboration with the WPE Assistant Community Mobilizers, conduct awareness raising activities on GBV and its health consequences, promoting available services to women and girls, and addressing the stigma preventing women and girls from accessing support and services with activities for female only group.

  • Identify and refer extremely vulnerable women and girls to access services and material support in accordance with their level of vulnerability and needs

  • Lead sessions to increase awareness on the consequences of GBV, promote available services to women and girls and address stigma preventing access to services at the women centers.

  • In collaboration with the WPE team, participate in meetings with community leadership structures when necessary to advocate for the needs of women and girls, and encourage their participation in GBV prevention and response activities in the communities

  • Identify and form women action groups in communities of intervention to ease prevention and response activities.


Other Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Support mentorship and trainings to IRC and other NGOs outreach workers/volunteers to improve their skills and capacity to support and refer survivors to services and adhere to guiding principles

  • Assess gaps on how the referral pathway is functioning through direct follow ups with service providers and make suggestions for improvement to the supervisor.

  • Support community mobilizers in facilitating EMAP (Engaging Men Through Accountable Practices) women weekly session as a key prevention strategy, behavioral change and also involving men ending violence against women in girls in community of operations

  • Ensure supplies/resources for counseling spaces, women centers and other program activities are requested on a timely manner and are efficiently utilized.

  • Adherence to the IRC code of conduct (IRC WAY) that ensures transparency, services and accountability to beneficiaries and reports any abuse of beneficiaries by other IRC staff, including sexual exploitation and abuse in accordance with the IRC reporting procedures.

  • Track and keep information and records of psychosocial activities taking place at the centers to strengthen monitoring of program achievements

  • Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor from time to time

  • Adherence to the IRC Security Policy.

  • Maintain positive coordination and relationships with partner and other IRC sector staff.

Job Title: WPE Community Mobilizer
Location
: Damaturu, Yobe
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Awareness Raising:



  • Raise awareness and promote changes in attitudes and behaviors regarding gender, gender equality and GBV.

  • Promote active community participation in prevention and response to GBV.

  • Develop and implement prevention strategies.

  • Ensure the formation of community groups for response and prevention activities.

  • Work with the WPE Trainer to facilitate Trainings and sensitizations to community groups, local partners and CBOs on GBV issues.

  • Promote the involvement of men and youth in GBV activities.


Community Mobilization:



  • Utilize participatory methodology to assess community needs in relation to GBV. Utilize participatory methodology and adult education techniques to assist communities in developing community-driven prevention and response plans.

  • Mobilize community to form ‘action groups’ for awareness raising and encourage greater self-reliance among women in the communities.

  • In collaboration with case worker ensure that women are engaged in psychosocial activities at the women’s centers.

  • Mobilize communities to form VSLA groups and DGS groups

  • In collaboration with caseworkers and trainer, identify and mobilize communities and establish Engaging Men Through Accountable Practices (EMAP) for behavioral change and attitudes towards ending violence against women and girls


Planning, Collaboration and Coordination:



  • In collaboration with Ministry of women Affairs ensure the formation of GBV community committees.

  • In collaboration with WPE Case Worker and Trainer, Women action groups, Youth Groups, identify training needs of community members and carryout trainings in a consistent and appropriate manner.

  • Liaise with community leaders, government agencies, IRC sectors, Partners to organize training and capacity building activities.

  • Advocate to Government agencies, traditional leaders and other implementing partners on elimination of violence against women and girls

  • Promote women’s active participation in the leadership and decision-making of the community.

  • In collaboration with community Trainer and community members conduct security mapping in the camps to identify potential security risks areas and develop strategies to address them.

  • Assist WPE Program Manager and Coordinator in strategic planning to ensure ongoing Programming.


Reporting:



  • Compile and summarize weekly and monthly statistics and narratives reports and submit to WPE Program manager in a timely manner.

  • Properly file all reports in a safe and secure manner.

  • Communicate all obstacles/Problems to WPE Program Manager for further action.


Financial:



  • Ensure that receipts are submitted in a timely manner and are properly and completely filled out with relevant supporting documentations.

  • Ensure that all conduct s are in line with IRC Mandatory Reporting policy.


Monitoring:



  • Follow-up on psycho-social support activities and ensure that these activities are conducted appropriately and meet the needs of purpose for which they are intended.

  • Follow-up on trainings/sensitizations/meetings conducted to ensure implementation of plans.

  • Follow up on EMAP and VSLA groups formed.

  • Carryout work with respect to IRC security concerns, protocols and established policy inclusive of ensuring the safety of IRC beneficiaries from exploitive relationships.


Requirements



  • Must have higher level education in Community Development

  • Previous experience with community mobilization using participatory methodology.

  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills and flexibility.

  • Prefer experience with participatory /adult learning techniques

  • Must possess interest and commitment to Human Rights, Gender Equality and Gender issues

  • Must be enthusiastic and creative.

  • Must be fluent in community language, spoken and written English. Fluency in Kanuri will be an added advantage

  • Proficiency in Word and Excel required.

  • Be able to work effectively in unstable, challenging, and fast-paced environments.

  • Ability to keenly observe confidentiality and discretion.

  • Ability to work as part of a TEAM.

Position Title: Cleaner
Location: 
Maiduguri, Borno
Primary supervisor: Admin/HR Officer
Duration: 1 Year
Objective



  • The cleaner will be responsible for keeping the IRC office both inside and surroundings neat and clean during weekdays.

  • She /he is also responsible for maintaining adequate stocks of appropriate cleaning materials and supplies.


Duties and Responsibilities
She /He will:



  • Clean the floor of the entire IRC office and guesthouses and any adjoining annexes or covered spaces must be swept and mopped

  • Clean the ceilings, walls, door frames, book shelves, tables and chairs should be dusted and cleaned

  • The windows should be cleaned and washed.

  • The rubbish bins in each room should be emptied and returned daily.

  • The bathrooms/latrines should be swept and mopped thoroughly each day; bathrooms should be supplied with toilet paper and water as necessary.

  • Laundry should be done as necessary; all clothes should be ironed and folded.

  • Keep track of cleaning and laundry supplies and make procurement lists as needed.

  • Will be working closely with the cook and assist whenever necessary

  • Perform other duties, as needed or requested.


Qualifications/Requirements



  • Must be resident in Maiduguri and a local of the North East

  • Able to clean, maintain minimum hygiene, cleanliness.

  • Able to communicate in English ( speak and write English, recommended)

  • Strong ability to work in a team

  • Self-motivated and proactive;

  • Thorough and organized.
