Qualification

Candidate for the post of the University Librarian must possess a good honours degree plus professional qualification in Librarianship. Ph.D and membership of relevant professional bodies will be an advantage. The candidate must show evidence of considerable scholarship and thorough understanding of the application of New Technology to library operations and services. Computer Literacy and application of ICT in library services is an essential requirement. In addition, the candidate must show evidence of contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed and refereed journals, competence in job planning, visionary and strategic thinking, strong team building ability, good leadership and interpersonal skills. The candidate must have had at least 15 years post-qualification cognate experience and at least 5 of these must have been at the top leadership position in library of a university and other tertiary educational institutions.
