Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, formerly Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike, was established as a specialized University by the Federal Government of Nigeria via Act No 48 of 2nd November 1992. It began formal activities in My 1993 with the appointment of the first Governing Council and Vice-Chancellor.
The Institution is located in the well-known Agricultural Training and Research town of Umudike about 9 kilometres from Umuahia town, the capital of Abia State. The major link road to the University is the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene Federal Road a direct route to the State Capitals of Abia, Akwa-ibom and Cross River States. Being close to Umuahia the University is linked through a major North-South Express Road to most parts of the country.

DIRECTOR, HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
QUALIFICATION
The candidate must possess a good honours degree in relevant field, preferably Human Resources or Personnel Management; with at least fifteen (15) years cognate experience in Human Resources Management and not below the rank of a Deputy Registrar or its equivalent.
Registration with any of these professional bodies Nigerian institute of Management (NIM) or Chartered institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) or any other recognized relevant professional body is mandatory.
Possession of a Postgraduate Degree will be an added advantage.
The candidate must be able to exhibit in practical terms high level knowledge and skills in Human Resources Department and shall i responsible to the Registrar on the day to day administration of the office.
The candidate must show innovative and good. knowledge of running an ICT-driven Human Resources Department working at the highest level of efficiency to eliminate time wasting, excessive bureaucracy and bottlenecks
He/she must have the ability to advise the Registrar on strategies for enhancing Human Resources Administration, including promoting the culture of doing more with less.
CONDITION OF SERVICE
This is the same as in Federal Public service and as applicable to Nigerian Federal Universities.
UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN
JOB DESCRIPTION
The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and the co-ordination of all Library services in the University, its Campuses, Colleges, Schools and institution and other teaching or research units.
QUALIFICATION
The candidate must have a Master’s Degree in Library Science with a minimum of fifteen (15) years cognate experience, and at a level not below the rank of a Deputy Librarian or its equivalent in a University.
Possession of a PhD will be an added advantage.
The candidate must have evidence of scholarly publications related to Library/information Science in reputable journals and books and must be a member of the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) as well as the Nigerian Library Association (NLA).
The Candidate must have a track record of considerable degree of competence, responsiveness, demonstrable integrity and transparency in all ramifications of the job performance.
He/She must be in good health and able to endure the rigors of the duties of the University Librarian.
In addition, the candidate must show demonstrable skills, knowledge, and ability to run an ICT-driven Library with high level efficiency.
TENURE AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The University Librarian shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years on such remunerations, terms and conditions of service as may be specified in his/her letter of appointment and as may be decided from time to time by the Federal Government/Governing council of the University.
VICE CHANCELLOR
THE CANDIDATE
The candidate for the post of Vice-Chancellor is required to possess a good University education and should be a proven successful manager of human and material resources.
Specifically, the candidate shall be expected to:
Be a highly distinguished scholar of the rank of Professor in any of the disciplines offered in the University with a minimum of ten (10) years experience on that level and demonstrable ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for such a well-established.
Be a person of proven integrity;
Be not more than 65 years old as at the date of possible assumption of duty on 1st March, 2016
Command the respect of the national and international academic communities through his/her track records;
Strengthen the bridges between staff, students, and other stakeholders;
Be a person with a clear vision for the development of the University;
Enjoy excellent physical and mental health;
Attract the much-needed funds into the University.
