The University of Port Harcourt, currently invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Registrar, which will become vacant on October 31, 2015.

REGISTRAR


DUTIES

The Registrar is a Principal Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day- to-day administrative work if the University, except as regards matters for which the Bursar is responsible.

The Registrar is also Secretary to the Governing Council, Congregation and Convocation.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The right candidate for the job must possess a good honours degree from a recognized university, with at least, fourteen (14) years relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in an institution of higher learning. Possession of higher degree(s) will be an added advantage.

The preferred Candidate must show verifiable evidence of consummate management and leadership positions. In addition, the Candidate should possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal relations, and be ready to work in a team.


CONDITIONS OF SERVICE – UASS7

The conditions attached to the position are as generally applicable in the Nigeria University System and as may, from time to time, be determined by the University Governing Council.

The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years.


UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN


DUTIES

The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University Library and coordination of all Library services, its Colleges, Faculties, Schools, Institutes, Centres and other teaching and research Units.

The successful Candidate will be expected to provide requisite administrative and academic leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The right Candidate for the job must possess a good honours degree in Library/Information Science from a recognized university, with at least, fourteen (14) years relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in a university.

The preferred Candidate must show verifiable evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journals within and outside Nigeria.

In addition, the Candidate should be proficient in management and administrative procedures. The Candidate should be able to initiate high impact research and be knowledgeable in the application of computer software and modern Library operations/services, especially the e-Library platform.

The Candidate must be a registered member of the Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) among other relevant professional associations.
