MEDICAL ADVISOR



 



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Participate in the preparation of annual plan of action and budget of TB and Leprosy Control Programme

  • Participate in the formulation of policies, regulation and technical guidelines related to TB and Leprosy Control Programme

  • Provide technical support to LeprosyfTB and related N TO’S Control Programme

  • Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of TB/Leprosy and related NTO’s activities/Programme

  • Participate in operational research, related to TB/Leprosy and related NTD’s Control

  • Appraise proposals submitted by assisted hospitals and others related to medical services for funding

  • Participate in the organization of training at the central level and support training carried out at sub- national level

  • Participate in preparation of quarterly and annual progress reports

  • Perform other related tasks to be assigned by the Medical Coordinator


QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE


  • University Degree in Medicine

  • Postgraduate Degree in Public Health or equivalent

  • 5 years of practical experience in planning, implementing. monitoring and evaluating disease prevention and control activities

  • Excellent knowledge of the strategies for prevention and control of tuberculosis, leprosy or communicable diseases and related NTD’s

  • Proven competence in modem training skills and/or ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship

  • Good knowledge of strategies for prevention, treatment and care of HI VI AIDS


ADDITIONAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE


  • Good knowledge and ability, to use computer software for word processing, spread sheets and basic epidemiological/statistical analysis

  • Demonstrated abilities forteamwork

  • Experience in working with bilateral or multilateral organizations in the country

  • The post requires extensive travelling for field – work

MONITORING & EVALUATION (M&E) OFFICER



 



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Conduct routine monitoring visits to project sites. This will comprise at least 50% of the job

  • This work involves a lot of travelling and field work to collect, collate, analyse data

  • Ensure that the quality of programme/project monitoring and evaluation in the sites is of international standard and quality by supporting the development and implementation of appropriate mechanisms to ensure quality.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the web-based data capture of the programme and provide technical assistance and training to the staff at the sites responsible for data entry.

  • On a monthly/quarterly basis, analyse projectlstate level data and provide reports to National office and local partners.

  • Participate in project assessments, evaluations and design teams.

  • Document lessons learned and best practices in monitoring and evaluation, according to guidelines.

  • Remain informed of current issues regarding monitoring and evaluation of programmes in the TBL/HIV/AIDS/STI and related NTD’s field by review of current literature and be alert to any implication of such research for project and programme activities

  • Good first Degree
