Companies which had come out of recession started recruiting and they are not compromising on the quality of people they select. Now it is not just oral interview and the companies are looking out new ways to select candidates with exceptional talent with multi-skilling abilities. Companies also looking for people, who can work under pressure delivering results and meeting deadlines. Candidates’ knowledge, skills, attitude and abilities are thoroughly checked through various tests like aptitude test, behavioral test, group discussions and psychometric tests. If you know the various types of interviews conducted to select right candidate for the right job, it will be easy to face the interview with confidence.


Screening interview: This kind of interview is just to find out the Knowledge, skills, abilities and also behavioral patterns during conversation. The interviewer may also ask about your salary expectations for particular job which you have applied. You should answer this kind of questions carefully as this is the foundation for your second round of interview. Some companies prefer to do this kind of interview through telephone.


Stress interview: This interview is to assess your abilities on how much stress you can bear in your work life. This is not just question answer session and the interviewer may test your ability in many ways. They will not allow you inside the interview room even after your name is announced. They will make you sit in front of Boss room to test your patience. They will test your patience and reactions to the situation during this time. They will test your state of mind after you enter the interview room. You have to bear this for some time only to enjoy the fruits of your labour.


Behavioral interview: Many companies are using this type of interview method to select right candidates. The interviewer will assess your behavior through this interview. Taking ownership for your actions, problem solving abilities, leadership qualities and other characteristics will be tested in this type of interview. Your answers reflect your behavior and help the interviewer to assess your behavioral skills.


Group discussion: Generally, this method is used during campus interviews. Many companies are following this method as elimination round after assessing the candidate’s communication skills. Initiative, common sense, time sense are assessed in the group discussion method. Your behavior in group is also assessed. You have to accommodate other’s opinions and help others to express effectively. One should not get emotional and if you are to reject any opinion, you have to express assertively.


Interview at Luncheon: This kind of interviews will be held for senior positions. There are two types of interviews in this method. They will call you for lunch or dinner and observe your behavior starting from your dining habits. The second is that they will observe you during some official luncheon. They see that whether your behavior in office and outside is the same or if there is any difference in dealing with people.


All at one go: In this method of interview, the interviewer will prepare only one kind of question paper to select right candidates. The candidate will be assessed based on their responses to the same question. You should not be in a hurry to answer this kind of questions. You should answer very carefully; otherwise you will be caught on the wrong side.
