CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER – COO
Reporting to the Managing Director, This role is an exciting opportunity for a commercially orientated professional to support the growth of the business in a
demanding, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. This is a role that affords the successful candidate an opportunity to be a true business partner to the MD and
provides a chance for a top performer to join the Board, within 3 years.
Immediate Subordinates: Heads of the following units:
Corporate Business,
Retail Business
Education Business,
Technical/Quality Assurance.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Day to day management of all the business units in the organization. Institute and implement policies. procedures, systems and processes to ensure smooth running of
the organization to achieve the strategic goal ofthe Board which is to triple the EBITDA for this business in the next 3 years
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct internal operations to achieve budgeted results
Responsible for the development and preparation of short-term plans and budqets to achieve broad organization goals and Objectives. Recommends their adoption to the
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Direct the development of procedures and control sto promote effective communication through adequate information flow, resulting in management efficiency
Develop and establish operating policies consistent with the Company’s broad policies and objectives and ensure their execution
Appraise and evaluate operations performance periodically and systematically, and reports to the CEO
Establish policies to ensure efficient management and human capital development to provide for capable management succession for those functions/business units falling
under his/her responsibility.
Ensures that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with enabling local, state and federal regulations and laws
Directs new business coordination. promotion and communication.
Represents the CEO at various fora and makes presentations to promote the organization and win new business across all business units.
Candidates to be considered, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Good personal presence and a strong leadership style combined with a confident, rational, collegiate and hard-working approach are critical to the success of this
role. The appointed candidate must be commercially aware and possess the ability to inspire and influence people at all levels
Highly visionary and entrepreneurial skills with demonstrable leadership ability
Commercially aware, action orientated with proven track record in managing and growing a multi-branch, multi division, multi-billion naira business in a fast-paced,
consumer, FMCG, business services or significant retail organization
Particularly astute in improving margins, increasing profitability and enhancing shareholder value
The credibility to act as a high profile COO and have the expertise and personality to influence all internal and external stakeholders
Excellent leadership skills and the intellect and commercial acumen to make an immediate impact on the business and within the company
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
Post graduate qualifications are an advantage but not a requirement.
Certifications and professional qualifications are an advantage but not a requirement.
Minimum of 10 years experience in similar position
CHIEF FINANCE OFFICER – CFO
Reporting to the Managing Director, This role is an exciting opportunity for a commercially orientated Finance Professional to support the growth of the business in a
demanding, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. This is a role that affords the successful candidate an opportunity to be a true business partner to the MD and a
chance to join the Board for a top performer, within 3 years. Strategically the Company has as itsmedium term objective the tripling of EBITDA for this business, so
the CFO will be a key component in assisting the business achieve this goal.
Immediate Subordinates: Heads of the following units:
Account
Treasury
Risk Management
Procurement & Logistics
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The CFO will work closely with the Managing Director to facilitate the strategic development of the business maximising the profitability and operational effectiveness
of the company
Undertake a broad commercial and operational leadership role, evaluating all areas of businessperformance, new business and margin/profit enhancement opportunities
Provide a highly commercial outlook on strategy, challenge and support the Executive Board and participate in commercial decision making
The CFO will ensure that the business strategy is supported by high quality financial planning and analysis, timely reporting and robust control processes, supported
by outstanding management information
Critically appraise the new business opportunities available and ensure that they invest to createmaximum shareholder returns
Provide strong leadership and commercial direction to the finance team and assume responsibility for all areas of budget, forecasts, working capital and cash
management whilst maximizing the business’s financial performance
Establish policies to ensure efficient management and human capital development to provide for capable management succession for those functions/business units falling
under his/her responsibility
Play a leading role in the direction of a range of significant change management and business improvement projects throughout the business
Ensure the business maintains appropriate relationships with all key stakeholders
Renders regular reports to the CEO on actual performance versus budget for key business & risks indicators, company-wide
Candidates to be considered, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Good personal presence and a strong leadership style combined with a confident, rational, collegiate and hard-working approach are critical to the success of this
role. The appointed candidate must be technically capable, commercially aware and possess the ability to inspire and influence people at alllevels.
A technically astute qualified accountant with demonstrable leadership ability and an excellent track record of success in a significant financial role. Possession of
Bachelor’s degree required. Higher degree desirable but not compulsory.
Commercially aware, action orientated and with a detailed understanding of commercial financial management acquired in a fast-paced, consumer, business services or
significant retail organization.
A thorough knowledge of commercial management working with in a dynamic and challenging management team.
Particularly astute in improving margins, increasing profitability and enhancing shareholder value. .
The credibility to act as a high profile CFO and have the expertise and personality to influence all internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent leadership skills and the intellect and commercial acumen to make an immediate impact on the business and within the company.
Minimum of 10 year experience in similar position.
