KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation (KNCV) is the principal international non-profit organization exclusively dedicated to fighting tuberculosis (TB) worldwide and to strengthening health systems against TB, globally and locally. KNCV is an international center of expertise for TB control that stimulates effective, efficient and sustainable tuberculosis control strategies in national and international contexts. CLINICAL COORDINATOR (PI)
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Clinical Study Coordinator (PI) with a medical degree and either public health or lab/microbiological training, to lead the implementation of a TB Inventory study. Comprehensive knowledge of the public and private health system and TB/HIV diagnostic and treatment services in Lagos required. Successful applicants should have >2 years of experience leading health-related research. Proven understanding of TB pathology, diagnostic procedures, algorithms, screening practices, treatment, risk factors, TB/HIV epidemiology, and biostatistics. Proficiency in English and another Nigerian language is mandatory.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engage private sector leadership to understand and support the study; oversee training for recording and reporting in line with national guidelines; manage the ethical review process, coordinate all field procedures including. ensuring consent, data collection, digitalization, interviewer standardization; SOPs development; coordination with local TB and HIV stakeholders; reviewing raw clinical data to ID issues missed by others; represent study team at key meetings; communicate regularly with
staff in-country and in the central office. Willingness to spend >25% of the time in the field is a must.
IT/DATA MANAGER
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
At least an MSc in statistics, information technology, informatics, computer science or mathematicsto oversee data collection and data management for a TB Inventory study. Successful applicant should have a thorough understanding of statistics, sampling and survey methodology. Applicants need to have demonstrated experience in merging and appending of data bases: ideally to include probabilistic (fuzzy) and deterministic matching for database de-duplication, Demonstrated experience in data management software such as MS ACCESS, Epi Data, Link Plus, etc. is a must, as well as a solid understanding of TB surveillance and quarterly reporting. Knowledge, of managementof missing data is important and knowledge of GIS software is desirable. Proficiency in English and another Nigerian languafile is necessary.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The IT/Data manager will be responsible for verifying the accuracy of public and private data source sampling frames, and
developing a sound method of digitizing paper-based records. He/she’ will develop data cleaning SOPs, train and supervise data entry staff, perform multiple probabilistic and deterministic matches to compare official surveillance data with facility-based data, with the ultimate aim of quantifying the extent of under- and over-reporting of TB notifications at the facility, LGA and sector level. Willingness to work with TB staff and spend 25% of time in the field for data collection is a must.
STATISTICIAN/EPIDEMIOLOGIST
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Seeking a Statistician/Epidemiologist to develop and implement a statistical analysis plan in coordination with in-country and international staff for a TB Inventory study. The applicant should have a PhD in Statistics, Epidemiology or Mathematics and have a demonstrated competence in (bio)statistics, survey methodology, sampling, etc. The applicant should be familiar with TB/HIV epidemiology, and competent in software such as MS ACCESS, Epi Data, Link Plus, STATA, R+, SPSS, etc. Knowledge of GIS is desirable, while demonstrated proficiency in English and another Nigerian language is necessary.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Calculate sampling error, design effect, and develop a method of inferring under-reporting at the state and LGA level. He/she will calculate completeness and matching rates, and conduct interim analyses to detect and correct inconsistencies and errors, flagging them to study staff. The Statistician/Epidemiologist will conduct statistical analyses presenting data in tables, graphs and models as part of study reports for local stakeholders, nationaJ and international audiences.
