PROJECT ASSISTANT – ATIKU CENTER


The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking for a Project Assistant. This position is local position and opens to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Project Assistant American University of Nigeria, Atiku Center is charged with the responsibility of contributing to the efficient day-to-day operations of the assigned project He/She shall perform a wide variety of technical support services, ranging from complex to routine, all of which contribute to the efficient and professional operation of the projects and tasks assigned in accordance with established policies and procedures.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• A good first degree plus three (2) years’ project experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

• Understand the basic functioning of ICT in an organization (user-support, hardware, software, networks and IP Telephony).

• Experience in working with local communities, women and children

• Work under pressure and with little or no supervision

• Experience in planning and or supporting workshops

• Project Management knowledge will be strongly considered


Other requirements, abilities for the position:

• Ability to develop a work schedule, set goals, creates / implements actions plans and monitor progress towards goals.

• Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures.

• Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships.

• Skill in typing/word processing and use of personal computer/software.

• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy confidentiality.

• Ability to undertake self-directed tasks when necessary.

• Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.

• Experience of working and or living in northern Nigeria will be advantage

PROJECT SUPERVISORS – ATIKU CENTER


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

• Develop and implement project work plans and review as appropriate to meet changing needs andrequirements.

• Establish and manage relations with stakeholders including project beneficiaries and gate keepers

• Be the eyes and ears of the project working with beneficiaries and community members

• Support the implementation of planned activities and be responsible for ensuring workshop attendance of beneficiaries assigned

• Participate actively as projects team member to improve department efficiency, reduce costs and assist in improvement of product through customer experiences.

• Encourage communication of information between workshop participants and project team members


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• A good first degree in the social sciences , Pure and applied sciences from a recognized tertiary institution.

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills and computer knowledge

• Experience working within community structures

• Experience working with Women and the poor and marginalized

• Ability to use computers and computer applications is a plus

• Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions to enhance organizational effectiveness.

• Good people management skills

• Knowledge of local language will be a  plus

• Good understanding of the challenge facing IDP Women

• Should have the ability to interact effectively with student, alumni, high school Dynamic and innovative personality.

PROJECT COORDINATOR – ATIKU CENTER


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Project Coordinator is charged with the responsibility of managing all aspects of the protect UNHCR project. Under the direction of the Grants Administrator, the Project Coordinator will supervise a team that will be responsible for implementing the protect livelihoods project funded by UNHCR.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• A good first degree in Social and or pure sciences, from a recognized tertiary institution.

• A minimum of five (2) years relevant experience, managing projects

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills

• Good computer knowledge and ability to use basic MS office applications

• Significant relevant experience, preferably in a community focused project

• Experience managing a team of people

• Very good report writing skills

• A good knowledge of M&E systems and processes

• Knowledge of basic statistical packages

• Experienced in conducting workshops and engaging partners

• Good people management skills

• Intermediate to expert level competence with MS Office and database applications.

• Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions to enhance organizational effectiveness.

• Academic expertise, administrative experience and marketing skills.

• Excellent time management skills.

• Ability to make clear, timely decisions.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION ASSISTANT – ATIKU CENTER


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The position shall assist in monitoring, evaluation, and maintenance of the assigned project. The position holder shall participate in applied research and related M&E studies as directed. He /She will support the design and implementation of a comprehensive strategic monitoring and evaluation plan for the project with a view to ensure that all required data is available to support all center activities including development courses, volunteer activities and community outreach initiatives.  The position coordinates directly with project staff, project managers, community members, and others as appropriate to gather required information in line with the centers policies and procedures.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


• A good first degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics from a recognized tertiary institution.

• A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience.

• Above average skills in the use of computer software for basic analysis

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills Significant relevant experience, preferably in a community focused project

• Intermediate to expert level competence with MS Office and database applications.

• Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions to enhance organizational effectiveness.

• Academic expertise, administrative experience and marketing skills.

• Excellent time management skills.

• Ability to make clear, timely decisions.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS, ABILITIES FOR THE POSITION:

• Good understanding of the challenge and significance of building a new Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Development center

• Should have the ability to interact effectively with student, alumni, high school teachers and university staff.

• Dynamic and innovative personality.

• Experience of living and working in northern Nigeria is an advantage.

FINANCE ASSISTANT – ATIKU CENTER


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The finance assistant will be charged with the responsibility of preparing and verifying daily reports as well as daily income/sales, journal entry, preparing authorized refund vouchers and compiling monthly reports. The duties shall include but not limited to investigating and collecting returned items, maintain returned check account, maintain chargeback account, and also prepare monthly balance sheet schedules in line with established standards and procedures.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• A BSc degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.

• 6 months experience in same or a similar position.

• Excellent proficiency with the use of database management software and other computer devices to perform duties more efficiently.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.

• Experience with MS-Office.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS, ABILITIES FOR THE POSITION:

• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information.

• Confidentiality concerning personal files and records.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – ATIKU CENTER


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Administrative Assistant American University of Nigeria, Atiku Center is charged with the responsibility of contributing to the efficient day-to-day operations of the assigned project He/She shall perform a wide variety of administrative support services, ranging from complex to routine, all of which contribute to the efficient and professional operation of the office as well as the projects and tasks assigned in accordance with established policies and procedures.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


• A good first degree plus three (2) years’ secretarial/administrative experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

• Understand the basic functioning of ICT in an organization (user-support, hardware, software, networks and IP Telephony).

• Have good CRM (customer Relationship Management) skills

• Work under pressure and with little or no supervision

• Experience in the AUN culture should be an advantage

• Experience in the use of OpenERP application system would also be an advantage

• Project Management knowledge will be strongly considered
