Head – Strategy



 



Job Summary


  • Development and communication of the company’s business strategy, associated 5-year strategic plan & annual supporting operational plan

  • Develop new business opportunities with a focus on commercial arrangements and deal structure

  • Lead commercial analysis of Strategy & Business Development projects / opportunities.

  • Develop and/or promote key functional/ cross-functional strategies across the business.

  • Lead the syndication and stakeholder management for financial strategy development.

  • Develop in-house available commercial and numerical capabilities.


Principal Functions
Corporate Strategy Development:


  • Participate in the development and dissemination of the company 5-year business plan; co-ordinate and refresh the corporate strategy annually

  • Communicate the company’s strategic direction and drive objectives to ensure understanding of roles and responsibilities

  • Drive, monitor and assess the implementation of the company’s short, medium and long term goals and objectives and effectiveness of the 5 year strategy and support operational plan in light of competitive performance and context

  • Track and record progress driving towards objectives


Functional Strategy:


  • Lead the development of cross-functional strategies that serve as key components of the overall corporate commercial strategy

  • Develop broad guidelines into specific operational plans and programs and drive implementation

  • Drive negotiations for potential acquisitions, partnerships or divestments


Strategic initiatives:


  • Develop commercial/ analytical frameworks and assess existing and new business opportunities (partner, acquire, build, divest)

  • Develop, analyze and communicate business cases that support the assessment and underlying valuation of potential opportunities to enhance management decision making

  • Enhance and drive commercial analysis as above where applicable

  • Promote internal evolution of commercial strategy where applicable


Market and Competitive analysis:


  • Assess and monitor industry trends, competitors’ activities and new commercial developments highlighting impact of the company’s strategy and operations

  • Drive the prioritization and reaction to new commercial strategies where applicable


Others:


  • Maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

  • Manage external consultants as required

  • Perform other roles/tasks as required by the Director, Strategy and Business Development


Educational Requirements


  • First Degree in Business, Management, Finance or relevant discipline

  • Post-graduate degree in Business, Management, Finance or an MBA


Experience, Skills & Competencies


  • Nine (9) to Twelve (12) years relevant work experience with at least three (3) years at managerial level.

  • Work experience in a top tier consulting firm, management consulting, investment banking or Telco is an added advantage

  • Strategy formulation, evaluation and implementation

  • Business modelling concepts, methodologies and leading practices

  • Business / investment cases development

  • Business finance / financial analysis

  • Strategy formulation, evaluation and implementation

  • Project management, and implementation

  • Research analysis & evaluation techniques

  • Industry knowledge

  • Negotiation skills

  • Leadership & influencing skills

  • Presentation & facilitation skills
