KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against tuberculosis (TB), still the second most deadly infectious disease in the world. KNCV is an international center of expertise for TB control that promotes effective, efficient, innovative and sustainable tuberculosis control strategies in a national and international context. We aim to stop the spread of the worldwide epidemic of TB and to prevent the further spread of drug-resistant TB.

PROGRAM OFFICERS

Challenge TB:

KNCV is the lead partner in Challenge TB (CTB), the new USAID-funded 5-year global program to decrease TB mortality and morbidity in high burdened countries. We lead an international consortiumwith eight partner organizations: American Thoracic Society (ATS), Family Health International (FHI 360), Interactive Research & Development (IRD), Japanese Anti Tuberculosis Foundation (JATA), Management Sciences for Health (MSH), Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), and the World Health Organization.

The project in Nigeria will be for a period of 6 month a supporting 15 states in Nigeria for quality implementation of TB program.

The overarching strategic objectives of CTB are to improve access to quality patient centered care for TB, TB/HIV, and MDR-TB services; to prevent transmission and disease progression; to strengthen TB platforms.


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION AND ORGANIZATIONAL POSITION

The Program Officer is expected lobe embedded with the State TB Team and will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of all CTB activities in collaboration with the State TB Team.

Other activities include: organize & conduct regular facility supervision to ensure quality service delivery; organize & conduct on-the-job facility-based training for DOTS services; organize & conduct regular visits to health facilities on data quality assurance; support state program on routine data analysis & utilization.

The Program Officer reports to Senior Program Officer in the Regional Office.


SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

A degree in Medicine (an MPH degree will be an additional advantage);

At least 4 years experience working with: HIV& TB program at various levels;

Experience with USAID or UN projects or any development partner is an advantage;

Strong coordination, planning, and supervisory skills;

Competent with operational plan development, project implementation and monitoring & evaluation of results

LABORATORY ADVISOR

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION AND ORGANIZATIONAL POSITION

The Laboratory Advisor will work in close collaboration with States’ laboratory quality assurance officers in ensuring effective and quality laboratory services in selected LGAs.

The job includes among others: support assessment of Lab services in the selected slates/LGA’s; liaise with State Quality Assurance Officer in facilitating quality expansion of microscopy & GeneXpert; supervise in close collaboration with QA officer and LGATBLS all laboratory services; in collaboration with National Reference Laboratories ensure retrieval of all culture results and ensure documentationon patients’ records: reports to Senior Program Manager.


SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

A degree in Medical Sciences – MBBS/MBBch. or Laboratory Sciences (an MPH would be an advantage) and a minimum of 5 years experience in TB and/or HIV programs;

Experience as laboratory quality assurance officer or laboratory manager;

Experience in working with: HIV & TB program; USAID projects or any development partner;

Strong coordination, planning, and supervisory skills;

Competent with laboratory operational plan development, implementation and evaluation of results.

This is both a technical and a managerial position, posted in a Regional office. The Senior ProgramOfficer reports to the Senior Technical Adviser at the central office in Abuja. The main tasks include:


Provide technical support to Program Officers in selected states/LGA’s;

Monitor& supervise state implementation of TB;

Organize and report monthly on the implementation of the CTB project;

Provide oversight to the M&E Assistant, Accounts Assistant and Laboratory Advisor in the Regional Office.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION AND ORGANIZATIONAL POSITION

The position is aimed to increase KNCV’s capacity to coordinate and strengthen the national TB laboratory networks, the capacity of National and Zonal TB Reference laboratories and the implementation of new laboratory technology activities in the country.

The Senior Laboratory Advisor reports to the Country Representative for the project implementation and carries out the following major tasks:

Provide technical support to the National TB Program (NTP), National Reference Laboratory (NRL), regional KNCV lab advisors and the state quality assurance officers through appropriate implementation and scaling up of quality laboratory services, including new technologies.


REQUIREMENTS


Applications are sought from persons with sound knowledge of and experience in mycobacteriology, complemented by demonstrated knowledge of TB control and experience in public health strategies and coordination and support for laboratory networks;

Should have at least training in public health or infectious diseases, preferably with an emphasis on TB and knowledge of current WHO policy recommendations on the use of new TB diagnostics, TB laboratory bio-safety, SOPs for TB laboratory methods, and specifications for TB laboratory equipment;

Proven experience in a mycobacteriology laboratory with knowledge of laboratory quality management systems and function of national TB program will serve as key asset;

Proven experience in working in the fields of TB, MDR-TB and TB/HIV;

Field experience in Nigeria.


SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

An MSc degree in Laboratory Science, Especially Micro-biology; an MPH will be an advantage.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in TB laboratory services at all levels.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION ASSISTANT

The M&E Assistant wilt work with the Senior Program Manager to assist in M&E activities in the States; Assist in timely and complete reporting of CTB activities; Adapt & implement tools & techniques to improve quality and use of data; in collaboration with the State TB program, mentor all M&E focal persons in the facilities.

The M&E Assistant reports to Senior Program Manager in the Regional Office.


SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor or Masters’ degree in Social Sciences;

At least 2 years of experience in M & E in public health projects;

Experience in working in the fields of TB/HIV, Community TB, and MDRTB, with extensive field experience in Nigeria;

Proficiency in statistical analysis and use of computer.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor (Accounting, Finance and/or Business Management/Administration);

At least 4 years of experience in accounting and working in a project setting;

Proven experience with accounting and financial reporting in USG supported projects;

Proficiency in the use of computer and accounting software.

Trade test certificate

Valid driver’s license

Certificate in safety and security driving
