2. The manner in which the information is presented – The presentation should be in a crisp and well structured format. No matter how impressive the content on your CV is, it all fails if the right manner of presentation is not adopted. Another trick that goes along with this is aspect is the fact the upper middle area on the first page is where the attention of the recruiter is naturally drawn to. Therefore, including the most impressive information there will give you an instant upper hand.

3. Keep it concise – CVs that go on for several pages can get tedious to the reader. Make sure that no matter how much information your CV contains, it does not extend beyond two crisp A4 pages. This will not take up much of the employer’s time, and consequently, will leave a good impression about you.

4. Adjust the CV according to the job applied for – Most people make the common mistake of sending out the same CV to various kinds of jobs. Needless to say, the objective will end up not matching with the job requirements. To avoid this blunder, take a few minutes to understand the requirement of the job, and to tailor or redesign the objective and the experience in your CV to suit the job profile. This does not mean that you have to rewrite the entire thing. All you have to do is make a few minor alterations in the way your information is presented.

5. Do not forget the references – It does not matter if the person you offer as your reference is not a very popular name. It always helps to have someone vouch for your credibility. So make sure you include the name and contact information of someone who has employed you previously.
