United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) – For over 65 years, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has been protecting the rights and well-being of refugees all over the world. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Nigeria wishes to engage the services of an Assistant Donor Relations Officer in its Abuja Office on a fixed term basis.

Job Title: Assistant Donor Relations Officer

Description


  • The Assistant Donor Relations Officer reports to the External Relations Officer. 

  • He/she will be supporting the Representative in the discharge of her responsibilities.

  • He/she will progressively have increasing responsibility and will ultimately take over the portfolio.

  • He/she will be responsible for maximising the use of income generated from the donor base through all donor retention and donor communication activity.

Responsibilities
The incumbent will have the following responsibilities:


  • Draft project proposals and reports for donors.

  • Work closely with units and field offices to ensure that project implementation is on track.

  • Provide timely information and updates on the refugee situation to the representative and to Geneva.

  • Work to increase donor engagement and participation in UNHCR events.

  • Maintain an overview of on-going and planned projects funded by the donors to share with management and relevant offices.

  • Ensure acknowledgement and visibility of donors.

  • Manage the development and maintenance of the customer relationship management system in order to accurately manage supporter details, obtain payments from donors and communicate in a relevant way with existing supporters to build loyalty and grow long term income.

  • Work with the representative in delivering accurate and timely donor reporting requirements with regard to the annual plan and Income Growth Fund.

  • Deliver accurate fundraising data and analysis to help the senior management team to understand and monitor programme performance

  • Keep abreast of developments on UNHCR’s work both in the country and worldwide and communicate all relevant information to the existing supporter base

  • Oversee the supplier arrangements and contracts for donor management and communications.

  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications


  • University degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Journalism, Communication or other related fields.

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.

  • Good knowledge of refugee context, local context as well as adequate knowledge of the political and cultural backgrounds of the donor countries.

  • Proven inter-personal and negotiating skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Ability to organise and conduct briefing and presentation in English.

  • Fluency in English language skills (written and spoken) and excellent analytical capacity in English (written and spoken).
